Is it snowing where you live yet? Some people look forward to the first snow of the year, but not so much to the 10th or 20th snow fall. Some people love the peacefulness, the way snow cover makes everything look clean, the wonderful things they can do in the snow — like making snowmen, having snowball fights, and racing cars.
Well, the average person isn’t going to be racing their vehicle in the snow, but there are races every year around the country — and the world — that feature vehicles racing across snow-covered roads, fields, and even frozen lakes.

The WRC Snow Rally is a good place to start. Every year in Sweden drivers from around the world take on the challenge of driving the only road rally to take place entirely on snow & ice. Here’s an exciting compilation of driving taken from the 2001-2007 rallies.
In the US, the annual Sno* Drift Rally (part of Rally America series) takes in Atlanta, Michigan every winter. The next event is scheduled for January 29-30, 2016. This video features the 2011 race.
